What guarana is

Guarana is a plant whose seeds are used to make an extract. It contains caffeine, and the label lists it as “guarana seed extract” at 1%. We are confirming the caffeine content per gel with the producer, so we do not state a figure here.

Who the gel is not for

According to the label, the gel is not recommended for people sensitive to caffeine, pregnant or breastfeeding women, or children. If anything is unclear, ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking it.

The limits EFSA gives

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA, 2015) states that caffeine intake from all sources of up to 400 mg a day does not raise safety concerns for healthy adults, and up to 200 mg a day for pregnant and breastfeeding women. Single doses of up to 200 mg also do not raise concerns for healthy adults.

Add up all sources

Caffeine also comes from coffee, tea, cola and energy drinks, so what counts is the total over the day. Once we have the caffeine figure per gel, we will state it here so you can add it in.

This is general information, not medical or nutritional advice.
